Austrian Funding Agencies
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the national funding institution for business-related research and development in Austria. Funding from the FFG makes a significant contribution to generating new knowledge, developing new products and services and thus being more competitive on the world market. They facilitate or enable the financing of research and innovation projects and thus help to cushion the research risk. The FFG supports international networking and promotes scientific careers.
Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws)
The Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) supports innovative high-tech projects in several development phases. There are various financing options, starting with brainstorming, for patenting / IPR, pre-seed and seed phase, growth, internationalization and much more.
FWF – Der Wissenschaftsfonds
The FWF serves the advancement of science at a high international level. It makes a contribution to cultural development, to the expansion of the knowledge-based society and thus to increasing added value and prosperity in Austria.

Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft
The Christian Doppler Research Association promotes cooperation between science and industry.
Specifically, this takes place in specially set up research units in which application-oriented basic research is carried out: Christian Doppler laboratories at universities and non-university research institutions as well as Josef Ressel centers at universities of applied sciences.

Wirtschaftsagentur Wien (Vienna Business Agency)
The Vienna Business Agency is the first point of contact for national and international companies in Vienna. It offers financial support, real estate and urban development incentives as well as free service and advice, with the aim of strengthening Viennese companies and their innovative strength. As a result, the business location is sustainably developed and strengthened in international competition.
SFG – Steirische Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH
The SFG works towards the declared aim of Styrian economic policy which is to consolidate the state's position as an above-average competitive, leading European region. This is how the change to a knowledge-based production and service society is to be shaped, and the digital skills of Styrian companies are to be strengthened.
KWF – Kärntner Wirtschaftsförderungsfonds
The KWF sees itself as THE partner of the Carinthian economy. It supports companies with grants and strengthens Carinthia as a business location. Like all Austrian federal states, the KWF also offers a wide range of support for start-ups.
Ecoplus - Die Wirtschaftsagentur des Landes Niederösterreich
The business agency of Lower Austria sees itself as a reliable partner for entrepreneurs, investors and initiators of regional or international projects as an interface between business, politics and science.

Wirtschaft Burgenland GmbH
The Burgenland economy sees itself as a partner for all economic development in Burgenland.

EIC acceleration Pilot
The Enhanced EIC pilot funds high-potential, high-risk innovation developed by SMEs through the EIC Accelerator Pilot The EIC Accelerator Pilot offers Europe’s brightest and boldest entrepreneurs the chance to step forward and request funding for breakthrough ideas with the potential to create entirely new markets or revolutionise existing ones. The EIC Accelerator supports high-risk, high-potential small and medium-sized innovative enterprises willing to develop and commercialise new products, services and business models that could drive economic growth and shape new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and worldwide.
Fast Track to Innovation (FTI)
The Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) is a fully-bottom-up innovation support programme promoting close-to-the-market innovation activities open to industry-driven consortia that can be composed of all types of participants. It can help partners to co-create and test breakthrough products, services or business processes that have the potential to revolutionise existing or create entirely new markets, under the helm of the Enhanced European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot.
Eurostars supports international innovative projects led by research and development- performing small- and medium-sized enterprises (R&D-performing SMEs). With its bottom-up approach, Eurostars supports the development of rapidly marketable innovative products, processes and services that help improve the daily lives of people around the world. Eurostars has been carefully developed to meet the specific needs of SMEs. It is an ideal first step in international cooperation, enabling small businesses to combine and share expertise and benefit from working beyond national borders.
EUREKA is a European research initiative for application-oriented research and development in international project collaborations between originally 17 European countries to strengthen collaboration in civil high-tech development, especially in microelectronics and materials research, in information and production technology and in environmental protection. It offers companies and scientific institutions the framework for cross-border and market-oriented cooperation on innovative and individual topics.
Business Acceleration, Incubation Grants
The Copernicus Incubation Programme launched by the European Commission supports European entrepreneurs and start-ups working with this data to create innovative, commercially viable products and services. This initiative is part of the Copernicus Start-up Programme.
European Space Agency Business Incubation Grant
ESA BIC Austria opened in 2016 and is managed and operated by the business incubator centre Science Park Graz (SPG) in close partnership with accent Inkubator. With more than 18 years’ experience in business incubation, Science Park Graz and accent have supported more than 300 technology and innovation start-up projects. ESA BIC Austria is looking for visionary entrepreneurs, researchers, students and contacts from industry, to develop innovative and scalable space-related business ventures.
European Space Agency Grants and Funding
ESA’s activities fall into two categories – ‘mandatory’ and ‘optional’. Programmes carried out under the General Budget and the Space Science programme budget are ‘mandatory’; they include the agency’s basic activities (studies on future projects, technology research, shared technical investments, information systems and training programmes).

EIT Climate-KIC is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient society. EIT Digital seeks to make a positive global impact through European innovations that are sustained and fueled by entrepreneurial talent and digital technology. EIT Digital strengthens Europe's position in the digital world by bringing breakthrough digital innovations to market and entrepreneurial talent for economic growth and promotes improved quality of life. EIT Digital helps companies and entrepreneurs to be at the forefront of digital innovation by providing them with technology, talent and growth support.
n order to make our food and our food supply future-proof, EIT Food has set itself the task of building an integrative and innovative community in which the consumer is actively involved. Central elements include healthy nutrition, improvement of sustainability through resource conservation, provision of training programs and innovative entrepreneurship in the food sector.
EIT RawMaterials is the world's largest consortium in the raw materials sector and is initiated and financed by the EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology), an institution of the European Union. EIT RawMaterials aims to develop raw materials into a great strength for Europe.
